There are less than 200 days to go until the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Beijing is set to become the first city to host both the Winter and Summer Olympics, so let’s see for ourselves what this modern city with an imperial past has to offer?
Every trip to Beijing must start at the magnificent Forbidden City which is still the central axis of this old city. From there, it’s on to the National Museum of History, Qianmen, and Wangfujing to experience old and new Beijing blending together. Then it’s time to visit Shougang park. This old steel-producing industrial park has been given a new lease of life and will be the venue for the exhilarating ski jump competition.
The Birds Nest, the Water Cube, the Olympic Tower all remain from the 2008 games, and this year they have a new neighbor, the state of the art “Ice Ribbon”. After a busy day of sightseeing, Wudaoying hutong is the perfect spot to chill out where you can experience some local Beijing culture.
