Beijing Architecture — Tianning Temple

Tianning Temple in Xicheng District is one of Beijing’s earliest extant religious sites. The original complex dates to the Northern Wei Era (471-476 CE). While the current temple buildings are primarily from the 17th and 18th centuries, the iconic 57.8-meter pagoda has stood for nearly 800 years having survived fires and earthquakes, making it one of the oldest pagodas in the city.
