The RMB 890 million (US$123 million) renovation of The Peninsula Beijing sees the hotel joining her sister hotels around the world in terms of décor, technology and facilities. The reopening marks the latest chapter in the long and distinguished history of the parent company, The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels Limited (HSH) - this repositioning is especially impactful as it falls in the 150th anniversary year of HSH.

Whilst modern China continues to develop at breath-taking speed, The Peninsula Beijing remains mindful of preserving local heritage, culture and traditions – a trait that is evident throughout the rejuvenated hotel. The Capital’s new landmark embodies Chinese culture and showcases the very best of Chinese art and artisanship. The Peninsula Beijing collaborated with Michael Suh, Executive Director at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Beijing, and designer Henry Leung, to incorporate a museum-quality collection of notable art pieces throughout the hotel, including dramatic artwork by Qin Feng, a spectacular spirit wall by Belinda Chow, and Zhang Du’s two five metre bronze sculptures.
